ACL/CCL Surgery

Dr. Nietz has performed extracapsular cruciate surgeries since 2002.  This knee surgery is a viable option for smaller dogs, and older or less-active patients. 

In 2007, Dr. Nietz completed additional training in the TTA (Tibial Tuberosity Advancement) procedure with Dr. Matthew Barnhart and Dr. Jeff Mayo, and became certified in this procedure.  The TTA is one of the preferred corrections for larger and more active dogs.

The other preferred method for large and active dogs is the TPLO (Tibial Plateau Leveling Osteotomy) surgery.  Dr. Nietz received advanced training in the TPLO procedure through Colorado State University and the American College of Veterinary Surgeons (ACVS).
